Like you... when I started out I believed that communication with Spirit (My Guide) was almost impossible.
I had read all the books and sat in a development circle (which, whilst well meaning was not too helpful) and was getting nowhere fast so, I decided to get on with it by myself... (I wasn't on my own of course).
If anyone could teach me it would be my Guide and the quicker I got in contact with (him) the better.
So, the trail began, first the healing. Then I ran some groups, rescue work, did the circuits of church and platform work and so on... It wasn't easy and I had to check myself time and time again and test everything I did but, we got there in the end.

Dispelling the myths
Regardless to what people might want you to believe there is no simple method to becoming clairvoyant. There are no, "gifted" people out there... well, not in the way it's usually advertised anyway. God has given us all the ability to communicate if we so wish. We are all spirit.
For instance the 'child prodigy' scenario: If a child can see and even hear Spirit and is lucky enough to have an open minded parent or, the child is left to it's own devises, then all he or she is doing is learning the language of communication from an early age.
YOU CAN LEARN THAT LANGUAGE TOO.
So, why the training terminology: Simply, because, if you cut through all the myths, legends and fears then the learning is as simple as 1,2,3 or a, b, c and learning to understand what your Guide gives you is not as difficult as you thought (or may have been told) and it is not restricted to a "favoured" few.
Most people experience their first communication by sensing Sprit around them, (Basic). They may have lucid dreams and even occasional messages and precognition, (psychic information about future events in the short term from your Guide). You may feel you have received a 'message' from a loved one, or that you are aware of Spirit around you.
These are all ways in which your Guide is trying to let you know they are there.
However, we need to put things into perspective. Whilst Sprit will let you know they are with you, the onus is on you to learn how to communicate and not just expect your Guide to do everything for you.
Your Guide is on 'stand by' waiting for you and all you have to do is pick up the remote. HOWEVER, you need to learn how to use the remote. (switching on / off and which channels to choose).
So, it is the physical mind is playing 'catch up' with your spiritual self and once you have the knowledge in you head THEN you will be able to bring the two together. (A state of harmony or balance).
The learning process is your choice.
